Today, the French Open Men's Finals played out. Nadal vs. Soderling.
Guess who we adore?
*Gasp*
Nadal!!
At the championship point,
nerves were unsurprisingly high when Nadal raised his hand to serve the championship point. Everyone took a huge breath. Whack! The ball is gone and in play. A nerve racking volley follows for a few more seconds.....no one has exhaled and no one is in their seats all the way. Until suddenly,
Soderling hits just a hair too low and sends that championship point flying into his side of the net. The whole world watched as in just a split second the ball crashes to the ground along with Soderling's championship. 1 millisecond creeped by, the world exhales and lodges off the edge of their seats to their feet, roaring. Nadal hits the ground flat on his back, fists clenched, yelling in rejoice.
Nadal. just. won!
We screamed and jumped and cheered.....and screamed and jumped and cheered some more!
He did it!:)
He is 2010's French Open Champion.
With the crowd still buzzing, Nadal takes a seat, and buries his face in a towel, crying.
Chandler and I simultaneously say, "Someone give him a hug!" Then we looked at each other, and humorously thinking the same thing, we hop to the tv and give him a big "tv" hug:)
Oh, we look so silly...
...but that's the fun of it though;)
The love to the tv continued and so did the laughing with embarrassment.
He received more tv hugs when he accepted his trophy and stood listening to his anthem, in more joyful tears.
Oh we love 'im.
He's just ya know, the definition of awesome.
Yup. That's it.
