July 4th and July 11th were 2 fabulous days in sports.
July 4th:
This awesome guy conquers Wimbledon and earns his 2nd Wimbledon title.
As I previously quoted, "Oh Nadal, it is nice to see your name above Federer's once, more!"
Oh, it's too cool!:) I unfortunately though, missed most of the match, but you bet when I anxiously pulled up the results with Chandler at my side, unbelievable screaming was heard as Nadal's happy, champion face appeared on the screen.
'Nadal Wins Wimbledon'
A gorgeous headline! He. Is. Awesome.
Did I already say that?
Oh, well.
(He IS!)
:)
July 11th:
Mom reminded us that the World Cup final was on that afternoon! I didn't pay much attention to it after USA got the black boot.
(Maybe next time, Donavan?)
But, my interest was spiked to finish it all out. After all, I'd have to wait 4 years for this game again, so why not watch? It's too exciting to miss:) So, Spain vs. Netherlands. I'd heard a lot about the Netherlands being so special, fun and, orange. (Did it not look like they let a bunch of inmates out on the field?!) Not totally sold, I turn to Spain. Then remember, where is Nadal from?! Spain! "How cool would it be if they took Wimbledon and the World Cup?!" Awesome cool! And after some more convincing from Facebook friends, I was officially rooting for, Spain.
They won me. They were so good! They were smart and didn't have a single "need a red card quick!" bad player. (That's always a good thing;)
And this guy totally looked like Tony's (from 24) twin.
And this 1:
looked like Liam Hemsworth;)
Long story short, Chandler and I cheered and moaned throughout the entire game. It was so exciting!;) We scared everyone in the house when Spain tossed in that winning goal.
We kept cheering as Spain crowded together as 1 team and accepted the Gold Boot in a storm of confetti and a world of ecstatic fans.
Oh, I love this sport. I'd always loved it when I was younger but, why hadn't I kept that love up?
So, Spain successfully sweeps Wimbledon
AND The World Cup!
(And receives some crazed Mechling family fans;)
Until next year for Wimbledon, and 2014 for Brazil!
See ya then.
