Get ready. This post is, eternal.
*Here comes the sun...on Christmas morning.
Little eyes pop open first.
Then bigger ones.
Then bigger, very tired ones.
But everyone, is excited.
Next?
Running down the stairs to create havoc?
Nope.
No child is allowed out of their room unless parents say to come down.
No one.
Breakfast must be made first.
Fire lit.
Candles lit.
Everything in it's spot.
Everything perfect.
Then we get the ok.
We anxiously gather up our presents, shuffle down the hall to the bridge, and peer over.
This is what we get to see.
We wait a whole year for this.
This is my favorite moment.
We then pose on the bridge together for the traditional picture.
Then we walk
down
the
stairs!
(Mom as the paparazzi;)
Then we sit together to eat our quiche and hot chocolate and listen to Dad read from the Bible,
the Christmas Story.
We pray.
Then,
it's opening time.
We all could not stand keeping our secret from Mom and Dad any longer, so they went first.
They began with their smaller presents.
The Arthur movies from Mom to Dad.
(That is their absolute favorite movie. They have dozens of little lines and inside jokes from Arthur. And now, they have it on DVD. So we can now watch it with them and understand what on earth their always joking about;)
One of Dad's gifts to Mom
Then
the small on the outside, big on the inside present from us.
"Close your eyes and hold out your hands.
Don't peak!"
We placed a Starbucks gift card on their palms.
"Open!"
"We thought you guys would enjoy a nice little coffee date!"
"Aww, thank you guys! That's very nice!"-Mom and Dad
"Well, we thought you could have your coffee date on the way to....well, look behind your cards....."
*gasp!*
"On the way to seeing Steve Green! Oh, and.......Lauranell Harris!"
(2 of their favorites!)
It's going to be awesome!
I thank dearly the extremely kind lady at the box office who set 2 tickets aside just for me as she was printing them.
Oh, and then sent them for free before I had even paid for them!
She was amazing:)
Just like this concert will be:)
Now it's time for everyone to pass out their gifts to everyone else.
Starting with Grayson, who got a picture with everyone:)
Then Harrison handed his gifts out, then Maddie, then Chandler, and so forth.....
Owl!! *BIG GASP*
Her bracelet me. It was on the top of her list. This bracelet was seen being worn by none other than Taylor Swift! ;)
Smooch!
More Owls!!
The Eli fans with Harrison's first ever, Jersey.
I love this time too.
It's really a cool feeling as you pass out the presents you picked out for just that person.
You can't to see what they think.
It is greater to give.
After all individual gifts are given, it's Mom and Dad's turn.
Time for our big presents!:)
What am I talking about?
Well,
each Christmas, Mom and Dad get each of us a "big present". Such as an ipod, a dollhouse, a computer, a phone, etc....
Jordan's big present?
Jordan has always wanted a "big girl" camera.
She took a photography class in her freshman year at college and could rarely show her talent due to the lack of a very important prop.
So finally,
it was her time.
She received, a Nikon D60! (pre-loved for 2 months by a certain someone;)
She was overjoyed.
Shoot on Jordan:)
Taylor's big present?
Taylor just a few months before then, had a working HP computer.
Had been working great for a near 5 years!
Until 1 day.
It died.
Just, died.
So Taylor, was computer-less.
She hopes to save up money for a certain hot red Dell Mini.
But honestly, that's gunna take awhile.
A long while.
Too long.
Have no doubts Taylor, Mom and Dad are here.
She ripped back that paper to find,
an ipod touch!!
No one knew!
What a surprise!
Will that hold you over until you reach your "mini" goal?
Thought so:)
Me? My big present??
Oh....did I get a treat!:)
Oh!
I have not owned a bike for....years. Not many, but.....years.
I hinted (don't ask how subtle my hinting was;) around the time of my birthday that I'd really, really, really like to own one of those classic cruiser bikes.
Simple request right?
"Well", I then said, "If i'd get one, I'd get one that did not have any wires, but did have leather seats and handles, one color all over, white wall wheels, and, a basket (a wicker one;). It's gotta look super classic though. Oh, color? Well,.......................color......................no black......no silver...........NO pink,............ehh, no purple..........not a big fan of green...........red........red sounds nice........yea.......red! Wait, what was that? Was that a light yellow with white walls and light blue trimming on the inside of the tire AND it comes with a leather seats AND handles?!
OooOOoo......in love.
But,.....the red. It's so pretty. So classic. So perfect.
But the yellow is so rare. So unique....
Oh I don't know!
You guys decide for me!! Please!"
I was handed, a big present.
I opened, a basket.
Not just a basket,
a wicker basket!
Then I was told, to go see what was in the living room.
I tiptoed in and there, in the room, right there, was a...
white-walled-no-wired-super-classic-white-super-soft-seat-with-matching-handles , RED cruiser.
OH!
The love:)
(I also got.....a Nikon D3000! I had nooo idea about it. Nope! Not a clue, not.a.clue.! Well, maybe I had a little clue......Maybe I did get to decide to keep my D60 and get a lens or give away my D60 and receive the D3000 before it went to Jordan. Maybe......I did have a clue;)
Chandler's?
I think all Mechlings were born with a desire to hear shutters click open and closed. To look through a little square and see a big picture. To push a button and save that big picture.
Chandler has been wanting a camera.
And that is just what she got.
A brand spankin new icy blue camera.
Oh yea.
Score.
Maddie!
What big did she get?
Maddie is 10, 11 in two weeks.
But Maddie, still very young at heart, which I love, still enjoys playing with dolls. All dolls. Barbie, Only Hearts, American Girl...you name it. She plays with it.
So what did she open that morning?
A huge Only Hearts Club Playhouse!
It's adorable, and she, loves it!
Harrison?
Cheesy Buns (don't ask;) is in love with cars as you know.
He loves to drive them on the floor sliding his face right across the floor next to the car, watching the wheels go round and round.
To get his face off the floor, he received a big, huge, track.
No more face driving.
And he also opened as installment #2. A little blue DVD player. The kind with the screen.
He loves that too.
Now he can play in his room rolling cars everywhere and have a movie rolling simultaneously!
Cool.
G-man.
Oops, I mean, Grayson.
(He requested that he not be called by any childish nicknames. "My name is Grayson, not 'G-Man', nor 'Gray-man'. Grayson."
Grayson the 20 year old, ohp! There I go again! I mean the 3 year old, (20 in his mind;) loves to play with our play food. He once flipped over a rubbermaid and prepared all of his "meals" for everyone in his "kitchen". Sad.
So, what do you think he got for his whopper gift?
Yup!
A big fancy, kitchen! Noises and all!
He is now a 20 year old pro-chef! He also has mastered serving tables. He flows around tables serving dishes single-handedly without spilling. (Well except for that one time....;)
Oh yea, he is the bizness.
And then, for the last drum roll gift, a box that read, "To: Everyone".
We opened.
Twas,
a
Blu-ray!
Then,
an LG 42" beauty:)
Oh how long we have awaited it's arrival.
It's home.
It's ours!:)
(It's here;)
Stockings are then pulled down and shuffled through which are always holding the perfect little things for everyone.
We all agreed that we were very blessed this year:)
Now,
Dinner and guests!
3 more people joined the blessed home.
Dale
Grandma
and
Pop-Pop!
It was great!
We all began cooking and setting out the treat table.
Literally table full of sweet, delicious treats:)
The kids table was set right next to the tree. How precious is that?
Menu:
Scrumptious Strawberry Spinach Salad
Honey Baked Ham
Fresh cut Green Beans cooked in butter and sprinkled with Craisins
Sweet Potatoes made by Dale
Waldorf Salad
(and I can not for the life of me remember the rest! I'm truly sorry!)
No matter what it was, it was scrumptiously delicious!
Dessert was offered, but we were all just too busting.
Grandma and Pop-Pop very generously handed out their gifts to us.
All wonderful and so kind!
It was like Christmas morning all over again!
:)
Then it was that time.
It was dark out.
It was late.
Beneath the tree?
It was empty.
And all up the stairs, like we always do:)
All these things only mean one thing.
Christmas is coming, to an end.
Dale accepted the invite to sleep on an air mattress in the living room.
Grandma and Pop-Pop received and wished their last "Merry Christmas", and left.
Everyone dragged their feet to bed.
Is it really nearly 12:00?
Everyone was in their beds.
Some still clutching their new things.
Others wishing they had a rewind button to clutch.
Then once again, just like 24 short hours before,
all was silent.
All were asleep.
All was opened now.
All was done.
That was Christmas Day.
It was Christmas Day.
It's now,
over.
The last Christmas song is played on the radio.
It takes just 1 minute for Christmas Day to be,
the day after,
Christmas day.
Just like a blur, it's.....
The.
End.
