Just a near week ago Jordan and Dj posted this piece up on Craigslist. Mom has been wishing it sold for a very long time. "It's just too big!", she repetitively exclaimed.
Wait no longer, we had at least 5 eager buyers hours after it was posted.
After some...events. It's now, gone.
The sentimental attachment kicked in as we began prepping it for the move. I walked in the room to see this:
I'd never realized how pretty darn fabulous the center part looked. Now without the bookshelves hugging it's sides, some of us were shocked at how awesome it looked standing there in it's independent gloriousness. To us, it actually looked like THE wardrobe from "The Lion, The Witch, and THE Wardrobe".
We were mega in doubt mode. But, it was too late. The buyers were en route and there was just no turning back. So we let it go. I promised myself that when I have my own home I will go and find a wardrobe just as stupendous as that one. (not an easy mission...;)
Mom, Taylor, Jordan and Me got it as far as the foyer and then the guys finished the job out. Dad even came home from work for about an hour to come help move it all. I do not know what we would have done without him.
Going.
(We unknowingly even needed Dad to pull the truck up into the front yard. WHAT would we have done without him?!)
Grandma and Pop-Pop came too to help. (And Pop-Pop looked like a (Mom quote;) "sharp professor" perched on the old church pew, in his red suspenders, antique encyclopedias surrounding him. Yup. Oh so studious like;)
We had our own furniture army.
(and goof balls;)
And good thing. This thing was a freakin' heavy beast!
Going.
They did alas, get it in the truck, secured it down, and we're off.
(Maddie not too happy about the sell...)
Maddie told everyone she would probably cry as they drove off with it......she's such an actress;)
See! "Woah! No tears here!"
Going......
Gone.
Just an empty space remains. Awaiting for a new awesome, gorgeous, stupendous, wardrobe-like replacement.
Wish ya good luckie with that mission;)
One correction. I said that Pop-pop looked like a lawyer in Savannah, because I envision their courtrooms still outfitted with 100 year old church pews. :)
ReplyDeleteI shall consider it a privilege to help you hunt down one awesome wardrobe for your first house. Thanks for not crying yesterday!
